Wow thank you Olivia! You totally get what we were going for! :) We’ve always been a fan of showing rather than telling so we try to avoid using internal monologue if we can help it. We also wanted this to be a story of finding strength in oneself rather than seeking comfort in a love interest. Raz has his own story, but he’s not the center of Miriam’s. :)
Tacto: Hehe! We have the biggest grins on our faces right now! C:
The characters in the illustration are the same as the characters on the last page. We made the subplot in the story really subtle so that the focus would be on Miriam, but we’re so glad you guys are catching onto it! We didn’t think anyone would notice but daaaaaynm! We can’t wait t reveal just what these characters are all about!

Wow! Thanks so much Raffles and mikeronni! You really picked up on a lot! O_O We are shocked! We won’t say for sure who the person is at the end of epilogue, but wow! You guys really did a deep reading! O_O
I will say, “Saturn” will read really differently after our next project ;)
Raffles: We’re so glad you like Raz! He’s very straight forward when it comes to his emotions (sometimes in a tactless way) but he’s definitely got some mysterious elements to his story (as you could probably tell from the dialogue haha). Resounding effect- we should put that in the back of our book LOL!
Mikeronni: We did want some Romantic elements in the story, but yes the focus of this short is about Miriam’s growth as a musician. We’re so happy you think we captured the emotions behind the songs! :D So glad you listened to the music while reading! We listened to the suite while drawing too! :) Miriam’s main story is concluded in this project, but we’re become quite attached to her so this might not be the last you see of her :D Our next project does relate to other “Saturn” characters though ;)

Hehe we’re really excited about this story so we’re having a tough time not spilling the beans~ But space is definitely a big theme. :) The Title is “Novae” after all.

Thank you! We’re so glad we enjoyed our comic! Music is really hard to portray and we spent a long time thinking about how we could convey it visually. We didn’t want to resort to just a string of music notes above her haha.
Finally got caught up and daaaaaaanm!! Haven’t commented yet but I have really been enjoying this series! I love the writing style, the attention to detail and the cinematic quality of each scene. I am often surprised by the perceptiveness, the way Demyan’s voice clips in the soundproof room, how the cold worms through clothing– maybe this is just me but it seems like the awareness of sensations and the environment seems to be especially emphasized when it’s in Toi or Demyan’s perspective. Perhaps because they are so aware of their physical forms?
Sometimes I’ll come across a scene and I feel like I’m watching a movie or animation. I would really love to see some of these scenes storyboarded! Like the moment Demyan walks in from the street through the closet. Such a surreal scene! I imagine it almost like Citizen Kane with otherworldly elements.
I’m really intrigued by these angels! I was expecting them to be really powerful beings but they turn to only have a few advantages. I really like this! And I like that the angels’ motivations are not clear cut. They each have their own agenda even though they keep receiving these orders from mysterious higher ups.
On that note, I wonder what the limit of their power is. Demyan survived multiple gunshot wounds but Zophiel (SPOILER) in the previous incarnation, died with a single shot from Solas. Are they not invulnerable to each other even through man made objects?
Anyway, I’ve rambled on far too long. Amazing work! Long story short I’m really looking forward to see what happens next and how these relationships develop. :) I Totally ship both couples!

We have another project related to this short that we will talk about in the future (subtle hits at the end of the epilogue) So there will be more coming! :D Thanks so much for taking time to comment!

We like the idea of a band themed slice of life story too. I (Kate) was in band back in the day as well and that kind of camaraderie is hard to find anywhere else. Especially when you’re a bunch of silly middle school students trying to come together to create beautiful music haha!
We’re glad you picked up on the Emma/Downton Abbey vibe. We did a lot of research before we started and that involved reading and watching a lot of Victorian/Edwardian comics and dramas! We love the way Kaoru Mori emphasizes subtle interactions and movements. We feel like it really brings you into the emotions and the world :) Oh and through our research we found that the Downton Abbey corset is actually inaccurate for that time period, though we never actually show any corsets. But, I suppose it’s good to know haha.
If you ever get the chance We would highly recommend hearing “The Planets” played by a live orchestra, it’s been a huge inspiration for us :) The idea that high school school girls were playing this kind of music during that time is really fascinating! Especially when you consider for women, playing the piano back then was more for entertainment than an artistic endeavor.
