(Just realised that I’ve been lurking around the forums and never actually posted my introduction! Whoops!)
Hi, my name’s Susan and I’m a part-time-student, part-time-library-assistant, part-time-writer from the UK! I found out about Sparkler Monthly through Manga Bookshelf’s excitement over Off*Beat coming back. :) My favourite thing so far has been Tokyo Demons – I’ve just bought the hardcopy, even though the postage prices are… Interesting! I really love what Chromatic Press are doing here, both in the work that’s been produced and the idea behind it (Stories written for the female gaze! Not restricted by genre! LGBTQA content done well!) and really admire the people involved.
I would definitely be up for participating (and have been wondering if there was a writing contest since I saw the art one). I’m afraid I don’t have the knowledge to run it either, but it would be fun to do.
The thing I’d be most interested in seeing off that list is the creative-process articles, because I LOVE seeing people talk about these things! (Plus, it means that the Sparkler staff have more specific resources they can point people to, which might help?)
Apart from that, I like the idea of bonus stories, sexy or otherwise, and the visual novels! Having games like that on the site would be really interesting and cool to see, but I imagine would be a nightmare in terms of logistics.
My reading of it was that Rose’s dias was Rosevelt, but I could be incredibly wrong on that – my theory is based pretty much entirely on the hair matching up vaguely, and it would account for why she thought Eigen wasn’t?
But then my general theory after I read the first chapter was “Oh, well Rose is obviously Rosevelt genderswapped/bodyswapped and this is why she can’t cast magic!” so possibly I am not the best person to speculate on this…
