My lack of art skills, you spite me once more! Oh well, even if I don’t participate, I definitely look forward to seeing all of the submissions, and you’ve started it out wonderfully, Neila. :D

The series pages, like http://sparklermonthly.com/series/awake/, are broken on my computer, saying “Oops, something’s not working right!” The content pages themselves still work though.

Also, is there a way to edit your own posts? I don’t want to double post, but I can’t seem to find an edit button. I thought I saw an edit button when I first sent my posts, but they’ve vanished upon re-viewing the pages.

I think having a winner could be fun incentive. :) If you don’t want to pick a single winner by yourself, a winner could be selected via everyone/anyone voting (with the rule that you can’t vote for your own work if you participated). As for someone possibly feeling left out, I’ve seen some small and informal contest have the rule that someone can’t win twice in a row. Depending on how many people participate, this could be extended to a few months or any amount of time that’s needed to allow for a variety of people to win instead of the same person/people winning all the time.

Oo, a mobile site, especially a comic reader designed for mobile, sounds really nice. I usually check for updates on my phone, so I would definitely put it to use.

Oo, hopefully this contest boosts the forum’s activity. It gets quite discouraging when only a few fans respond to threads.

I’m happy to try to spread the word about you guys as much as possible. :) I like Sparkler Monthly on principle, and the fact that I really like some of the titles makes it even better. I really hope it’s a resounding success!

Heya, I’m Serene. I love anime, manga, and comics along with the occasional webcomic, cartoon, novel, or video game when I have time. I tend to really like fantasy, action, adventure and horror, but I’m fairly open to every genre.

I found Chromatic Press through an ANN article about you guys picking up Off*Beat again. I’ve never read Off*Beat, but what I read about the company piqued my interest and Tokyo Demons seemed like a great idea. Once I saw that REM does the art, it didn’t take me long to read it, and I quickly feel in love with it. I love light novels, but most publishers avoid them since they cost too much to release. Making English original ones seems like such an obvious solution now that someone’s thought of it!

Woo, I finally had time to read chapter 3!
The fact that I don’t know how long Gauntlet will end up being is definitely working in its favor. When you know a book is, say, 200 pages and a chance at escape or exit presents itself at page 100, you know that it’s either a trap or the character will choose the other option. You know the main character (probably) won’t die or accomplish his/her goal if you have 75 pages left. This chapter, I really didn’t know what Clio would choose. The story could end at any point, so every time there’s a threat to Clio life, there’s a chance it could be the end. Reading this way is much more exciting!

I listened to my first few audiobooks recently, but I’m still trying to get use to the medium. The only things that really threw me off about Awake were the scene changes and trying to figure out which voice belongs to which name. I’m bad with names, so I ended up looking at the transcript to figure them out (thank you for including that, by the way. It’s really helping me get use to the format more quickly).

I wasn’t sure what kind of story this was going to be. Throughout most of it, I was thinking it would be a slice of life sci-fi. If I were right, I don’t think I would have continued as neither genre is my cup of tea. But with that ending, it seems to be a horror instead of slice of life, and that genre is very much my cup of tea. I’m going to listen to the next chapter at the least.

Welp, I’m intrigued. It’s giving me an Alice in Wonderland crossed with Bioshock feel, although I have no idea why. I’m definitely looking forward to the next chapter. I hope it fills us and Clio in on what’s going on because I have a ton of questions. My guess is it’s some kind of twisted survival game.
