To get another genre of English language audio drama: Once upon a time, BBC Radio did adaptations of the “Death of Superman” and “Knightfall” story lines from Superman and Batman, respectively. If you’re a more visually oriented person like me, I think they’d be worth looking (listening?) into to get an idea of how to go about adapting stories (already in print or just in your head) from one format to another–and they take a lot of the points and advice Rebecca brings up to heart.

I know Knightfall is on iTunes where you can get a brief listen with the preview if anyone wants to check it out.

How about a compromise: a monthly printable pin-up (or general illustration) calendar? Staying organized is a lot more fun when there’s something cute and/or sexy staring back at you. =D

Spindizzy, I have been playing with the same Rosevelt/Rose theory, but then again, I’m pretty much a Scooby-Doo-styled detective and assume the first person introduced in the episode HAS to be the bad guy, so… my reasoning’s probably not too sound either, haha. BUT! Rosevlet had to have been mentioned for a reason.

For now, I guess we cross out fingers for Christy’s good health and wait.

A sort of funny Off*Beat memory for you all:

To this day, whenever someone brings up a discussion about company promotion versus “word of mouth” promotion, I always side with word of mouth and cite Off*Beat as my prime example of why.

I can vividly remember one of the pull quotes for the series used on the official advertisements being “Everything FAKE gets wrong about New York, Off*Beat gets right.” Now, the reason I remember that quote is because it made me think, “Wow, if that’s the only thing this series has going for it…” And for a long time, I overlooked the story because of that quote. But! Once I finally started listening to the word of mouth about it? It didn’t sound half bad. In fact, it sounded quite good. And when I finally caved and got the first volume? Oh my gosh–it was right up my alley. It was like reading something I would have written for myself.

Now whenever I find a little gem–be it a comic, a movie, a tv show, whatever–that I had overlooked because the initial official promotion didn’t make it sound like anything I’d be interested in, I say to myself, “Everything FAKE gets wrong about New York, Off*Beat gets right.” It’s become my short hand for, “Trust your friends and not the pull quotes.”

I’m Alison (though I’ve been going by my initials “A.M.” for a bit now) and I too am a shojo and josei lover. I work seasonally and am currently in my off season and back at home in the great state of West Virginia. I do comics, writing and crafting in my downtime, and I’m fairly certain the first time I heard about Sparkler it was on Twitter and something along the lines of “look, somewhere to submit female-focused stories.” The response from my fellow Twitizens was a resounding “YES! MORE! MORE! MORE!”

I’m terrible at keeping up with update schedules and don’t have much free time in the summer, so what I’m most looking forward from Sparkler are the ebook releases so I can enjoy the stories when and where ever I like. =)

After spending the summer without, I made it back to the land of television back in November. And have been so busy since then that I haven’t been watching much. I have caught a few mini-marathons in front of the Travel Channel’s Mysteries at the Museum and the History Channel’s How the States Got Their Shapes because I am a professional nerd, haha. (No, seriously.)

I’ve been reading a lot of Moto Hagio lately. I finally, finally, finally got my hands on a copy of A, A’. Ugh. Well worth the wait. I didn’t have time to devour it all at once, and between starting it and turning the final page, it was the only thing I could think about. Love her work. Anyone else a fan of retro manga? I’ve been following a a “Vintage Manga” tumblr for a a few months now (http://fehyesvintagemanga.tumblr.com/) and everytime they post, I feel the itch to dig out my older series.
