Honestly that depends on the prompt. You’d have to make sure that each month’s prompt works both with art and writing, which could potentially limit your options. However, it could open up the possibility of collaboration between artists and writers, which would be extremely interesting. Honestly though, I’d be down for that most of the time.
Nelia, my screen name is pronounced “nonane”. It is both a play on “no name” and the actual name of the ninth molecule in the alkane series, which is funny considering that I actually cheered aloud when I discovered that I was in the only engineering major that didn’t have to take Chemistry. I don’t remember how I discovered Tokyo Demons initially, which means I probably clicked an ad on a webcomic. To be fair, the ads for TD are really good. I read for a while, then ended up on the forums, and then ended up on here when they got Sparkler up and running back in August.
While programming is my passion, I (to my extreme shame) am horrible at actual web design, so Jordan and Lissa, if you do ever read this, I apologize for any extra headaches I may have caused you, and your work is awesome, keep it up!
Hello! My name is NoNane and I’m a Computer Engineering student in Colorado, though until very recently I’ve been a resident of the state of Alaska. I found out about Sparkler through Tokyo Demons, where I’ve been active for around a year and a half now. I’ve also written fanfiction for Tokyo Demons, which can (somehow) be found over on the original Tokyo Demons website’s Fandom page. On the more professional side, I’ve been programming for over two years and have been mildly obsessed with computers for far longer than that. Unsurprisingly, you will probably find me lurking around in the Bugs area when things on the website go wrong.
Though I’ve been following Tokyo Demons for a year and a half, I’m currently really excited about Awake, and I can’t wait to see what kind of crazy joyride Tory’s gearing us up for.
November 18, 2013 at 1:29 am in reply to: Reporting website bugs/problems, such as can't access certain pages #2328WHOOOOOO!!!! Yay for squashed bugs and mobile versions! You guys are awesome and Jordan and Lissa deserve massive amounts of thanks. Speaking of Jordan and Lissa, do they check the forums here at all?
November 16, 2013 at 2:27 am in reply to: Reporting website bugs/problems, such as can't access certain pages #2315I was actually super happy to see that the player you guys picked used Javascript/HTML5 instead of flash. Since I do frequent the site on my phone it is extremely nice to know that it works just as well there as on a standard computer. Plus, Javascript/HTML5 is, from what I’ve gathered, a lot smoother and faster than flash. Yay technology!
Seriously though, I hope you guys don’t have many more bugs to find. I don’t know them personally, but I bet Jordan and Lissa would like to sleep at some point.
Well, since the chapter isn’t out from behind the paywall yet, I’m going to guess that spoilers are probably not advisable for the sake of my own health and safety. I will say that everything seems to be coming together really well so far, and…
“[big gross noise]”
That is all.
November 16, 2013 at 2:02 am in reply to: Reporting website bugs/problems, such as can't access certain pages #2312Hey, just thought you should know, the link you currently have up to stream Awake chapter 4 can be directly downloaded, rather than having to go through Sparkler’s checkout system. Not sure if this was the intent, because it’s happened once before (back before Bandcamp was implemented) and was changed. This also only applies to chapter 4, all the other ones are using the Bandcamp player. Sorry again, and I really hope this next week brings significantly less bugfixing work for Jordan and Lissa (who are getting an extra apology because bugfixing often sucks, sorry). Sorry…
November 13, 2013 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Reporting website bugs/problems, such as can't access certain pages #2274Well, no more using that little text box over on the Chromatic site to report bugs! Yay! Unfortunately, the real reason for this post is a bit less happy, because I think the full Character Bio page for Awake is now inaccessible. The link on the Awake main page that’s supposed to go to that page just doesn’t go anywhere, and the URL changes from http://sparklermonthly.com/?post_type=series&p=786 to http://sparklermonthly.com/?post_type=series&p=786?template=characters . Other than that the page seems to remain the same. Again, sorry for doing this two days in a row, and I hope you guys can fix all the stuff without too much trouble with your host.
Hina… Oh God Hina… You don’t know what you’ve just done… You are making me extremely sad right now, it’s just not cool.
Janelle, I think I might like how your sister thinks, because damn that was a slick move with the video. Also with the hiding of the video key. That was majorly skillful. I have a theory about where that’s hidden, but I will be keeping that to myself for now, because there is insufficient information for it to be anything other than hearsay. For now, I will only say…
“This is gonna be a long fucking trip.”
Only if by “Poorly” you mean “Fantastically”.
So, quick rant, I think Rosa is forgetting something very important here. Her point about the likelihood of this being a murder is correct, but she forgets that, despite the implied size and complexity of Persephone, the chances of all of those things going wrong at once is extremely small. So small, in fact, that the chances of it being orchestrated by other members of the crew are probably the same or higher than it the chances of it being an accident.
Then again, a 50% increase in a tiny risk is still tiny.
I have only held one programming job, and I was building my own code base, and I know that I would never ever want to have to start looking at someone else’s code. I mean, if you think a stereotypical programmer has communication issues, then I shudder to imagine what it looks like when they aren’t trying.
Also, the ASCII dicks would be annoying as well.
Okay, new question. Near the start of the chapter, Robbie (Robby?) requests data from Persephone And uses these extra parameters:
“Use code green if status is 444.”
What is “Status 444”? I know httpuses that for no response errors, but that doesn’t seem to make sense here.
To all the voice actors and creators on this project, congrats. This is looking to be one crazy awesome series. I recognize some of the names and the voices on both the cast and the creator lists from following the Tokyo Demons audio serialization, and I am overjoyed to see them joining some new additions to the team of brilliant and awesome people that seem to be gathering extremely fast around here. I would ask Lianne and Rebecca how they were planning on keeping this to only once a month, but I’m fairly certain that, if I did, they would hunt me down and kill me.
There were really only two things that irked me. One was the voice of Persephone, in that she sounds so familiar but I cannot guess her name. Who is she and why am I getting a GLaDOS Jr. vibe off of her?` The other was the scene changes. Mind you, it became obvious very fast after the swap that it had happened. But during the little break, I always wondered if my internet had failed (a common occurrence at my house, I assure you). It would be nice if there was some sort of consistent noise during those so that we the people with unreliable internet don’t accidentally reload the page mid episode.
Really, this looks like its gearing up to be an awesome series, and I hope to stick with it all the way. Way to go guys!
