    Gorgeous work Tacto!

Hey guys, I know everyone was talking about maybe skipping Jan, but I may be able to get a prompt together for Jan.

What do you think? Should we just continue with extending Winter Wonder through the end of January? Or do a new one this month?

I’m fine with extending it to the end of January! That gives me time to get the next prompt ready. XD I kinda dropped the ball what with the holidays and New Year’s (Pun sort of intended!)
So the next prompt can be Valentine’s themed! Ho ho ho! That’s what we say for Valentine’s right? ;)

Sgl, Angichan! You’ve done wonderful! :D I love both your entries! :D

I have an epic space opera (with ace characters) but it’s been on my back burner for a while since I’ve had to find more paying work. Paragon Ketch is set to be quite long, and visual, but I was thinking of doing some short snippets as prose. Every character has mountains of backstory that I really want to visit. XD It also gets quite dark in places lol

Would there be any room for a light, chibi, omake style comic? Would anyone want to read something cute and light hearted? Have there been any submissions like that?

I know Sharkpony is a comedy but it’s kind of a dark messed up one lol so I don’t count that as “light hearted.” lol

Personally I’m excited Chromatic/Sparkler is publishing short stories. I love to write, but schedule wise it can be easier to find time to write a short than a full novel.

Have you guys thought about flash fiction? Something like several flash fiction stories written by different authors along the same theme or setting?

Also, would Sparkler be interested in chibi or omake style humor comics?

Of course you should introduce yourself if you’re staff, lijakaca! :D It’s great to see the Chromatic Staff is so invested in their creators! :D

Welcome A.M. Funk and Sgl! :D It’s cool to be able to sit down and read stuff in full, but I’m also a fan of reading it as it’s produced. :P It’s great to see so many writers are here on the forum! :D Goodluck catching up! There’s quite a bit to read/listen to! :D

CourtneyLunn, the Hunger Games books are quite good. They’re really psychological thriller/horror/survival novels in my opinion. I do NOT recommend reading all 3 in a short span of time. I did…it was nerve wracking. I almost didn’t go see the movie because I still remember how mentally worn out I was after reading the books. They’re very powerful emotionally which I greatly respect. Writing wise they’re rather raw, stream of consciousness from Katniss’s point of view. Think “Walking Dead” but no zombies per say. If you’ve seen Attack on Titan, it’s about that level of constant “AHHHHH AHHHHH AHHHHH AHHH” level stuff.

Speaking of Walking Dead, I stopped watching it this season, partly because I was watching AoT and couldn’t take more “AHHH AHHH AHHH” style shows. I wanted to write stuff kind of along that vein because I find it fascinating how it can touch such a primal cord in readers, BUT it’s incredibly wearing. So, I’m trying to put more uplifting albeit bizarre themes in my writing as of late, if only to lift myself up a bit. There’s still twinges of horror though, because I’m a monster that likes hurting her characters.

I just saw Catching Fire last week too, they did a great job adapting it from the book.

I don’t get to get out to the movies much or play many games but a friend got me “Don’t Starve” this week, which is super fun to play. I’m surprisingly good at it despite my own reputation of forgetting to eat. :C

TV shows I’m into watching right now are Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow, and Grimm. :3 I like police dramas with weird twists. Anyone else watch much TV? It’s my designated “Stop working and try to relax…hey, why is there a pencil in your hand? Are you writing with your left hand? STOP STOP STOP. Time.”

Thanks for letting us know Lianne! I hope you get well soon! Did you get hit with the flu that’s going around?

Which would you guys prefer then? to do Fan-fiction or Original short fiction as prompts? We could do an original fiction prompt, but I know some of you said you have more experience with writing fan-fiction. I’m rubbish at that myself, all my fan-fiction turns into original stuff. haha XD

That might be interesting. Getting entries that have a short story + art to go with them would be cool! Kind of like a mini forum light novel-esq short story exercise.

My work load is making me second guess my ability to run both challenges myself though. :C

Hey, would you guys be up for a writing challenge that has the same prompts as the art challenge? I meant to ask that yesterday. :o But then I could run them concurrently! :D

That explains your avatar! :D C9H20 I had to look it up! I also had to ask because I was pronouncing it “No Nah Neh” in my head. :P I loved chemistry in High School but didn’t take it in college because by then I had decided I would work in comics and realized I was kinda scared of caustic chemicals. Heh.

My screen name is “alien” spelled backwards. It’s something I came up with years and years ago that I stuck with. :P

Web design is hard. I’m rubbish at it myself and design in general. I try to design stuff and suddenly feel like all I’m doing is banging rocks together. XD

Lianne, sorry I’m late to reply here. Thanks! It’s some flatting work for one of the Darkhorse colorists. I really lucked out getting it! It’s been fun to work on.

I hope the raffle has helped shoot some life into the forums. :D It certainly feels more lively now. ;)

Spindizzy, I’ve done that on forums before! XD That was one reason I started this thread. :P I love what they’ve produced so far too and where they want to go with it all. I’m gonna keep submitting stuff to them. :D

NoNane, how is your screen name pronounced? When I first saw it I thought it was “No Name” XD That’s super cool you’re a programer! :D How did you first find out about Tokyo Demons? I found out about Tokyo Demons through Sparkler Monthly.
