I am 1000% down for this. I love historical settings, mysteries, and dashing ladies with swords. Can’t wait for the next chapter!
I’ll first say that I really liked the podcasts. I’ve got a job where I can listen to a lot of podcasts, so it was cool to meet the Sparkler crew and learn a bit about them and what they’re in to.
All of the topics you mentioned sound pretty good, actually. I’m particularly interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff like editing and publishing. It’s easy to find interviews and articles from creators, so I’d like to hear more about the magazine itself and those with the task of wrangling and guiding creative types. Sparkler is pretty unique in what it does, so it should be really interesting.
That was a really intriguing opening chapter. The last few pages show that this won’t be a typical western setting. I’m looking forward to seeing more!
I’m picking up some nice gender role commentary from this chapter. The teacher’s talk about how women and men have set roles, and if you don’t fit them nobody will want you. Eigen’s being mocked for having traits typically attributed to women (I can relate ^_^) I’m liking this series already.
Hey! I’m Danny. I honestly can’t remember how I found out about Sparkler. I feel like it was from Tumblr, quite possibly from Megan “Rosalarian” Gedris, an artist, webcomic-er, and generally cool lady. But yeah, not 100% sure…
Before I knew of Sparkler I happened to buy a copy of Tokyo Demons at Zenkaikon, a small anime convention in Lancaster, PA. When I was checking Sparkler’s website I saw Tokyo Demons was being serialized there, which instantly made me want to check out the rest of what they offered. I just got here, but I like what I see thus far.
