Woo, I finally had time to read chapter 3!
The fact that I don’t know how long Gauntlet will end up being is definitely working in its favor. When you know a book is, say, 200 pages and a chance at escape or exit presents itself at page 100, you know that it’s either a trap or the character will choose the other option. You know the main character (probably) won’t die or accomplish his/her goal if you have 75 pages left. This chapter, I really didn’t know what Clio would choose. The story could end at any point, so every time there’s a threat to Clio life, there’s a chance it could be the end. Reading this way is much more exciting!SERIALS ARE THE BEST. <3 And you bring up a good point. I'll be sure to never say how many chapters Gauntlet is supposed to be. :)
