Dead Endings began in Issue #005 of Sparkler Monthly in December 2013. This was a surprise release, with the official press release following a few weeks later. Post your general thoughts on the series here!
Many of you already know Irene Flores (illustrator) through her Tumblr as beanclam or her books: the best-selling Shojo Fashion Manga Art School, published by Impact Books, and Mark of the Succubus, a three-volume graphic novel series through Tokyopop (with Ashly Raiti, another Sparkler favorite). She’s also worked for Marvel, Wildstorm, Rockport, and F+W Publications.
Although the name Jessica Chavez (author) may not seem as familiar, you’ve probably sampled her work if you’re a gamer! She was a localizer at XSEED Games for years, working on text, audio, and whatever else needed to be done on hits including Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. Dead Endings is her first novel, and its original incarnation was done for NaNoWriMo. For you creators out there, WITNESS THE GLORY OF FORCING YOURSELF TO WRITE A NOVEL IN A MONTH. It can really go places. :D Jessica has adapted and expanded her original work for our magazine, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.
